-
Gamepad — Xbox One wireless controller

-
I bought this several years ago when I was still running Windows because I wanted maximum compatibility for minimum effort. Now that I'm on Linux, I've been able to get it to work using
xpadneo
, but not consistently. I want to replace it with the new Steam controller when that drops.

+
Gamepad — Steam Controller (the new one)

+
There are many things to like about the new generation of Steam controller that are apparently unique to it, but only one is of sufficient consequence to me to inform a purchase: I plugged it in and it worked right off the bat with no further fiddling. No dubiously reliable third-party drivers, no fiddling with Bluetooth, nothing — as though it was designed to work with my system or something crazy like that. If the Xbox One controller this replaced had this feature, I honestly would have just kept using that. Thanks Gabe.
